MOVEMENT, is a word recognized by so many but sometimes it is set low on the priority list. For me it is at the top. I use the general term movement, simply because as humans we move from the internal self to the external self. For example, if our heart stops beating (moving) we are gone, therefore movement is survival. It is a way to release held tensions and heal the body.
Movement in many forms, but primarily dance, formed my identity, my understanding of my body, a way to process my emotions and to continue to cultivate my love for myself and others. I first discovered my love for movement when I took Greek dance classes at a young age. It wasn't until later that I realized that I wanted to pursue dance as a career.
After graduating from college with two degrees, one in Human Communications and the other in Dance, I began training in various styles of dance. However, it wasn't until I injured myself while dancing at CSUF that I finally found YOGA.
The way the breath connects to the movement, my body and spirit was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. Within 3 months of starting yoga, I became a certified teacher with Yoga Alliance.
Now, 10 years later, I'm a full-time yoga teacher and studio owner. It's my passion to help others connect with their bodies and find their own healing and transformative force through yoga.
Every day is an adventure and I wouldn't have it any other way!
